Today in Games: 3/17/14

Daily3-17Over in San Francisco, GDC is in full swing. Meanwhile, news still happens everywhere else. Today is a mix of both. Here are the important gaming bulletins for March 17th, 2014

1) Infamous: Second Son is being put on store shelves a little early. Multiple twitter users have reported that their local Walmarts are not only stocking the game but selling it.

2) Ultra Street Fighter 4 is getting a fifth fighter, and many will recognize them. Decapre will join the popular fighting game’s roster when it launch’s later this year.

3) GDC starts today. The annual Game Developer Conference allows aspiring devs to show off their work and learn from masters of their craft.

4) Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is getting free DLC. The surprisingly good  third person shooter will see a new map, mode, and abilities for all classes. The amazing part is that in a franchise known for microtransactions, there are none and the entry is getting free DLC, talk about player service.

5) U.K. sales for the Xbox One rose when Titanfall released last week.

6) Producer of the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night has left Konami today. Koji Igarashi left to go form his own studio.

7) Home is coming to PS4 and Vita. The critically acclaimed indie horror game is the latest title announced for Platstation’s suite of devices.

8) Dungeon Defenders is now free for Xbox Live Gold members.

9) Tomorrow, both Thomas was Alone and Unit 13 will be available to PS Plus users.

10) GOG is forgetting about of their regional price plan.

11) In perhaps the best sports game bundle for the money, NBA 2K14 and MLB The Show 14 will be bundled together for 90 dollars on PS3.

12) Unity 5 is coming out, and you can pre-order it tomorrow.

13) Zen Studios, the makers of Kickbeat, Zen Pinball 2/Pinball FX 2, and Castlestorm are sending their games to next gen. Currently, Zen Pinball 2 is the only one available, and it is exclusive to the PS4.

14) Kojima revealed today that MGS V: GZ will not have a platinum trophy. When pressed on the matter, he said Sony distinguished, by length, which games would and would not receive Platinums.

15) Marc Witten leaves Microsoft. He becomes the next in what seems like a parade leaving the corporation.

16) Blizzard announced they will be bringing Diablo 3 PS4, Hearthstone for iPad and more (probably Warlords of Draenor) to Pax East.
