As I’m sure many of you already know, this week will be gigantic as far as game releases go. From system sellers to indies, the prices and platforms are all covered in this weeks eccentric line-up.
Titanfall: Xbox One, PC- 59.99- 3/11
If for some reason this blockbuster has slipped past your radar, fix that. The Mech centered first person shooter could be what finally establishes a blooming Xbox One library. It’s quick, fluid gameplay was on display for all to see during the Beta a couple weekends ago, showcasing it to millions of potential buyers it is worth a purchase. For anyone who can meet the PC specs, its a definite pick up there as well. My thoughts on the game are forthcoming, but for reviews that have already be published, check out the Metacritic page.
Towerfall: PS4, PC- 14.99- 3/11
The game which validated Ouya owners purchase finally comes to other platforms this Tuesday. Creator Matt Thorson has built the best competitive couch game to date, and anyone with friends needs to play it. While that may sound like hyperbole, and it probably is, I’m not the only one to think that. Also check it out at a special introductory price on PS4, as PS Plus members get a couple dollars off.
Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky: PS3- 49.99- 3/11
The 15th installment to a long running franchise, Atelier Escha & Logy is releasing this week exclusively to PS3. The games beautiful art and not-the-most-typical-but-still-kinda-typical RPG story make it an intriguing option for Role Playing Game fanatics, but those not interested in 30+ hour fantasy epics may want to steer clear.
Dark Souls II: PS3, Xbox 360- 59.99- 3/11
The arguably hardest series to be released in recent memory, Dark Souls is yet again terrorizing gamers everywhere. The game is harder this time around, removing some crutches players used to cheap the game. But in addition to the added difficulty, Dark Souls II also explains the often obscure mechanics more, which makes for a more approachable difficulty curve. Gamers everywhere should keep there eyes out for the cult hit turned blockbuster as it releases Tuesday.
Yoshi’s New Island: 3DS- 39.99- 3/14
Baby Mario is back! The third entry in the fan loved series lands on the 3DS this week, giving players another reason to pick up their handhelds. All signs point to another smashing success for Yoshi and crew, but more needs to be seen before a definite buy/don’t buy call can be made.
Vessel: PS3- 9.99- 3/11
This small, 2D puzzle adventure game comes as another entry in Sony’s Spring Fever campaign, making it only 7.99 for Plus members.
PS Plus has Lone Survivor: Directors cut on both PS3 and Vita this week. The 2D horror game is one of the most beloved indie horror games out there, and a must download for those with the service
Games with Gold is still offering Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution, but starting the 16th Dungeon Defenders will be available.
As always, if you have one or both of these services, get your free games. There is no sense in letting these deals expire, so make sure to capitalize on them while you can.
That is about it for this week’s releases. I hoped you liked the article, and if I missed one let me know via the comments or Twitter and I will be sure to update it. Thanks for reading- Ethan H
